📦

Batch & Volume Work

Volume discount — quote based

Got 20, 50, or 200 identical parts? Setup happens once, then the laser runs through the batch. Per-unit cost drops significantly on volume work. Send us details for custom pricing.

All pricing shown is estimated and for informational purposes only. Every project is different — rust severity, material type, surface area, accessibility, and coatings all affect the final price. These ranges reflect typical Midwest market rates in 2026 and are subject to change without notice. Prices on this page do not constitute a quote, offer, or contract. Actual pricing will be provided after we assess your specific project. Send us photos and we'll give you an accurate, no-obligation quote.

What Affects Your Price

Six factors that determine how much your job will cost

📐

Surface Area

More surface = more time = higher cost. A small bracket takes minutes; a full frame takes hours.

🔥

Rust Severity

Light surface rust cleans in one pass. Heavy corrosion with pitting needs multiple passes.

🔧

Material Type

Steel and cast iron clean fast. Aluminum is more reflective and may take slightly longer.

🎯

Accessibility

Flat, open surfaces are quick. Tight crevices and complex geometry take more operator time.

🎨

Coatings & Layers

Paint over rust over primer? Each layer adds removal time beyond just the rust itself.

📍

On-Site vs. In-Shop

In-shop is more cost-effective. On-site adds setup and travel — but saves you transport hassle.

How We Compare

Laser cleaning vs. traditional methods — the full picture

Factor Laser Cleaning Sandblasting Chemical Stripping Wire Wheel / Grinding
Typical Hourly Rate $150 – $400/hr $75 – $200/hr $20 – $50 in chemicals $20 tool cost
Hidden Costs None Media, cleanup, masking, disposal Soak time, neutralization, disposal, PPE Extreme labor hours, material loss
Surface Damage Risk Zero Warping, embedding Etching, flash rust Removes base metal
Cleanup Required None Significant Rinsing & neutralization Debris & dust
Chemical Waste Zero Possible (lead paint media) Hazardous disposal None
Precision / Selectivity Excellent Blunt Moderate Blunt
Speed at Scale Fast Fast Slow (hours–days) Very slow
Ready for Coating After? Immediately Needs cleaning first Needs neutralization Needs cleaning

Is Laser Cleaning Right for Your Job?

We believe in being upfront. Here's when laser cleaning is the smart call — and when it might not be.

✅ Great For

  • Precision work — classic car bodies, machined surfaces, antiques, aerospace components where you can't afford surface damage
  • Batch processing — 20+ similar parts where setup happens once and the laser runs continuously
  • Paint prep — laser-cleaned surfaces are immediately ready for coating with no secondary prep step
  • Recurring maintenance — molds, tooling, production equipment where speed compounds over time
  • Sensitive environments — food processing, medical, or cleanroom-adjacent work where chemicals and abrasives aren't an option
  • Environmental compliance — zero waste stream, zero chemical disposal, no air quality permits for media dust

⚠️ Consider Alternatives

  • Massive area, light rust — cleaning an entire barge hull with surface rust? Pressure washing may be more cost-effective at that scale
  • Cheap disposable parts — if a $15 bracket is heavily corroded, replacing it is cheaper than any cleaning method
  • Fully enclosed spaces — pipes, tubes, and sealed interiors where the laser beam can't physically reach
  • Already-damaged metal — if the metal underneath is pitted beyond use, no cleaning method can save it. We'll tell you that upfront

Not sure which category your project falls into? Send us photos — we'll give you an honest answer, even if it means recommending a different method.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

The more detail you share upfront, the faster and more accurate your quote will be.

1

Take Photos

Show the rust/coating severity, part size, and close-ups of the worst areas.

2

Include Dimensions

Rough measurements help us estimate surface area and time.

3

Note the Material

Steel, cast iron, aluminum, stainless — different metals, different speeds.

4

Mention Quantity

One-off or batch? Volume work gets better per-unit pricing.

5

Tell Us the Goal

Paint-ready? Bare metal? Surface rust only? Finish level affects passes needed.

Pro tip: We quote every job individually based on photos and details — no generic "starts at $X" pricing that turns into something completely different when you show up. Straight answers only.
